Interim Grace Notes for November 11, 2022

Thank You Veterans!

I'm not sure who receiving this is a veteran, but if any of you are, thank you for your faithful service to our great USA, on this day dedicated to you and every other day. Our recent election day and its still unfolding results are a reminder of the wonderful gift that is ours to vote, giving each of us a say in the future of our nation.

Stewardship Campaign Gathering This Sunday, 9:15 am

You've been hearing this announcement for several weeks now, and the day is Sunday, November 13, at 9:15 in the Dining Room. We are inviting Grace members who attend all three of our weekend services to come together this Sunday at 9:15 am for a simple breakfast of fresh bakery rolls/donuts and beverages, and to have a conversation around the dining room tables. This conversation will be directed by a "menu" of questions, which you can read HERE. Toward the end of the menu is the "Check, please!" section, which will include an overview of the Live Simply campaign booklet, which you can view HERE.

The Stewardship Team met this past Wednesday, and we assembled the packets that will be distributed to Grace members who are in attendance. Those attending Saturday 4:00 pm and Sunday 7:45 am will receive their packets before worship - those who will attend 10:00 am worship will receive their packets in the dining room at the beginning of our Gathering, and those attending 10:00 worship but not the Gathering will receive their packets before worship. All others will receive their packet via US Mail.

In our worship this weekend, we will highlight the fourth and final sub-theme, "Share Enough," in our overall Live Simply campaign theme, which will remind us that if we focus on the scarcity, we never have enough. When we focus on God’s abundant blessings, there is more than we can ever imagine. Our sub-them then asks the question: "Are we able to begin to see the blessings rather than the scarcity?"

On Wednesday we sent an email highlighting the Week 3 theme, "Act Together." In case you missed it, you can read it HERE. Be sure to check out the generosity story from Connie Amor that I read in worship last weekend and included in this week's email.

Special message to Council and Call Committee members: If you are available on Sunday, I'm inviting you to come to the gathering in the Dining Room at 9:15, and spread yourselves among the many tables - one Council member and one Call Committee member at each table would be ideal. Review the "menu" of questions posted above, and help to take the lead in inviting those at your table to respond to the questions.

Great Hymns of Faith

Tom and Mike have been busy with preparations for the Great Hymns of Faith that will be this Sunday at 4:00 pm at Grace. Rehearsals have been happening for several weeks in several locations, but the main rehearsals will be Saturday afternoon beginning at 10:00 am at Grace. A huge task for this event is moving the sections of portable stage from a basement storage up the stairs to the sanctuary. Tom has recruited the necessary help to get the job done. I tried lifting even one side of one of those sections, it it is out of my range. Blessings and thanks to those who will get the job done both ways. Just a reminder that the choir risers will be in place for weekend worship -- and we will work around it. It's not too late to share the flyer that is posted on Graces Facebook page -- you can find and share it HERE.

Symphony Tickets Getting Sold

Tricia has received plenty of calls and visits for ticket purchases and reservations. I personally have bought four tickets, but will only be using one. I understand that my tickets are in the reserved area, so they are good seats, unless you'd rather sit in the balcony. Let me know if you'd like one or more of those three tickets.
